She also had a short and interesting attendance at the Lutheran Collegiate Bible Institute in Outlook, Saskatchewan. She married Robert Anderson, her neighbour and the best friend of her older brother, Carl, on January 3, 1955. They divorced after several decades of marriage and in her later years Shirley found a dancing and life partner in Harold Reimer of Swift Current.Shirley had a number of varied and interesting careers over her life. Two of her favourite positions were working with the Women's Division for the provincial government and working as an administrative assistant in the Office of the Premier. In her later years, residents of Swift Current would find her smiling face at Walmart.Shirley was an active member of the Ashley Park Ladies Auxiliary and could always be found organizing, cooking and baking for community functions. Many of her life-long friendships were formed in the communities in which she lived. She loved curling during her younger life, at one time had 55 yard line Saskatchewan Roughrider season tickets and later enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball, football and curling, on T.V. Shirley loved music and that enjoyment has been a legacy and a great gift to her children. Our mother enjoyed spending time with people and having fun. We admired her determination, independence, and strong sense of justice. She was opinionated, colourful, stubborn and kind, and burnt the candle of her life bright and hard. She would be proud to know that we feel she lived it to her fullest. We would like to thank the staff at the Swift Current Care Centre for making such good home for the community of residents there, including our mother. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Shirley are encouraged to do so for the less fortunate, through Canadian Lutheran World Relief, 600-177 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 0W5.
