Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Shelva Jean Brown Lee, 74, of Rainbow City, who passed away at her home on Feb. 16 after an extended illness. Bro. Harry Whitt and Bro. Vince Whittington will officiate the service. Graveside and interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.Mrs. Lee was a longtime member of White Springs Baptist Church. She retired from the State Department of Public Health after serving as a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing for over 34 years at Etowah County Health Department. In 1986, the Alabama Public Health Association bestowed upon her the prestigious Frederick S. Wolf, M.D., Award for her tireless and vigilant efforts for public health. A loving mother, grandmother and friend, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 46 years, C.N. Lee; brother, Harold Brown; sister, Janice Turner; and parents, Milton and Myrtle Brown.Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Mark Lee (wife, Kathy) and David Lee (wife, Angela); grandsons, Taylor Lee, Nolan Lee; brother, Berford Brown (wife, Sara); sisters-in-law, Mrs. Luke (Sue) Lee and Mrs. Harold (Geneva) Brown; chosen sister, Marie Adams; special friends, Horace and Mildred Smedley; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctor and staff of Amedisys Hospice; caretaker, Janet Hasse; and Dr. Ralph Wesley, Dr. William Harrison and Dr. Jimmie Harvey.James Brown, Perry Cline, Mallick Hossain, James Lee, Taylor Lee and Richard Widner will serve as pallbearers.Nolan Lee, Terry Brown and the Ladies of the Faithful Servants Sunday School class at White Springs Baptist Church have been named as honorary pallbearers.
