LAKELAND -- Mr. H. Scott Williams of Lakeland died of cancer Saturday (Sept. 2, 2006) at home. He was 86.Born in Coeburn, Va., on Jan. 3, 1920, he came to Lakeland from Clay County, W. Va., 46 years ago. He was a mining superintendent for Cargill. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. He was a member of Southland Masonic Lodge No. 256, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Lakeland Shrine Club and Egypt Temple Shriners in Tampa. He was a member of Shepherd Road Presbyterian Church.Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Pearle D. Williams, daughter, Sandy Jones, Lakeland.Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Burial Park.Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 901 Johnson Ave., Haines City, FL 33844.
