Savannah Lynn Smith was born on Oct. 31, 1987, in Monongahela, Penn. She went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2010.Savannah was the daughter of the proud parents Odessa and Terry Upchurch.Savannah graduated with the Class of 2006 from Blythewood High School, Blythewood, S.C. After graduation, Savannah continued her education by enrolling in Bamberg Job Corp where she learned a trade as a data entry clerk with a completion date of March 2007.Savannah moved with her family to Hinesville, where she enrolled into Savannah Technical College in the business administration technology associate degree program.Savannah was a member of "Bible Way Church" of Atlas road in Columbia, S.C., under the direction of Pastor Darrell Jackson. She participated in the Women Visionaries Ministry as she grew closer to the Lord.Savannah worked at the "Colleseum Sports Bar-n-Grill" in Hinesville, as a waitress, where she was respected by all her co-workers, was loved by all who came in contact with her and she touched many hearts with her beautiful smile and pleasant greetings.Savannah was a loving daughter, sister and friend. She had a giving spirit and loved everyone unconditionally. She was quiet until you got to know her. Then she came with things that would make you think, "only Savannah could think of that." She never complained about much of anything.Savannah accomplishments in life are few. She was just setting out to explore and enjoy life. Unfortunately her time on this Earth was brief.As we reflect on the life and death of Savannah Lynn Smith, know that God is in control. He has grabbed her by the hand taken her to His arch of safety so that she will suffer no more. Savannah's loving memory will be forever cherished by brothers, Julius Smith, Tre'vion Johnson of Georgia; sister, Deshundra Harris of Alabama; grandparents, Charles T. Bazier Sr., Leighta Korintus of Pennsylvania; great-grandfather, Charles E. Bazier of Pennsylvania; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. Savannah was a hard worker, warm and gentle beautiful on the inside as well as the out and will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service for Savannah will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hinesville.Dorchester Funeral Home of Midway is in charge of arrangements.
