Obituary of Sarah-Talford Jackson


Mrs. Sarah J. Talford Jackson, 67, formerly of Great Falls, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in Reading, Penn. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Mount Nebo AME Zion Church in Richburg with the Rev. Willie Evans officiating and the Rev. Paul Hicklin delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Chester County on Aug. 24, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Riley Talford and Mary Gaines Talford. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Reading, Penn. and was a former member of Mount Nebo AME Zion Church in Richburg. She was a 1963 graduate of Elizabeth Heights High School in Great Falls. Survivors are her husband, Charles Jackson; two daughters, Joanne Talford and Jeanette Jackson; three stepchildren, Yvette Best, Wanda Best (Kenneth) Pennywell and Charles Folk; two brothers, Ross (Ola Mae) Talford and Cornell Talford; one sister, Pauline W. (Oscar) Sims; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home of Pauline (Oscar) Sims, 5358 George Beard Ave., Great Falls. Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at King's Funeral Home, 2367 Douglas Road, Great Falls.
