Sarah Janet Pollock Wyman-Mack, 87, formerly of Rutland, died Feb. 24, 2009, in Covington, La. She was born July 12, 1921, in Providence, R.I., the daughter of Kenneth and Ethel Pollock. She was a 1939 graduate of Wilton (N.H.) High School and a 1943 graduate of Keene (N.H.) Teachers College with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and earned her master's degree from Keene State College in 1973.Mrs. Wyman-Mack taught school in Michigan prior to her marriage to Dr. Frederick L. Wyman in June 1947. Dr. Wyman died in 1977. She went back to teaching in Rutland public schools, retiring in 1983. In 1983, she married James Mack who died in 1984. She volunteered in Franklin, N.C., at Angel Hospital and in New Orleans, La., at Methodist Hospital in New Orleans East until displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Mrs. Wyman-Mack was active in the Vermont Right to Read Program; fundraisers for the Shriners Children's Hospital via Ladies Shrine-AIROC Court of Rutland where she was high priestess, plus chorus; and Sunday school teacher, religious pageant director and trustee of Rutland Unitarian Church. She enjoyed traveling.Survivors include four children, Robert Wyman of New Orleans, La., James Wyman of Wolfeboro, N.H., Jessanne Wyman of Essex Junction and Judith Wyman of Covington, La.; three siblings, Wendell, Robert and Loretta Pollock; four nephews, five nieces and seven grandchildren.She was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph Pollock. A celebration of life memorial service and reception was held Saturday, Feb. 28, at The Windsor.
