BANKSTON Sarah Margaret Brown, age 86, of Bankston, died Nov. 1, 2008, at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Norwood Chapel with Bro. Steve Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Cleveland Church of Christ Cemetery with Norwood Chapel of Fayette directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Mrs. Brown was born April 14, 1922, in Walker County to the late Andrew Jackson Griffin and Mattie Lollar Griffin. She was a resident of Fayette County for most of her life and a member of the Bankston Church of Christ. She was formerly employed at Fayette Manufacturing and later at North River Apparel.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arwell S. Brown on March 10, 2002, and several brothers and sisters.Survivors include two daughters, Charlene (Leon) Hamner of Northport and Brenda (Robert) Brown of Bankston; one son, John A. Brown of Northport; one sister, Velma Currington of Berry; five grandchildren, John C. Brown, Stephen S. Brown, Janna Kaye Brown, Shane Taylor, and Daniel Brown; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
