-->Iris Childers Jones GAFFNEY, SC-- Sarah Iris Childers Jones, 75, of 902 Ninth Street, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Blacksburg, she was the daughter of the late Torrence Jefferson Childers and Blanch Parker Childers and widow of the late George O'Neil Jones. She was retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission and was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, Training Union and Nursery worker. She is survived by a son, Robert Jones of Gaffney; a daughter, Kim Bagwell and husband, Tim, of Gaffney; a brother, Glen Childers and wife, Joyce, of Blacksburg; four grandchildren, Holly B. Morris and husband, Brock, Tyler Bagwell, Morgan Bagwell and Jordan Bagwell; one great-grandchild, Lucas Carter Morris; and special caregiver, Christine Turner. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Basil Childers, Lester Childers and Grady Childers and one sister Ione Alexander. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2007 in Frederick Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Scott Kierstead and Dr. Wofford Caughman. The family will meet with friends at the graveside after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, Music Department, 1508 Cherokee Avenue, Gaffney, SC, 29340.
