Sarah Busbee Hughes, 90, died Monday, September 24, 2007, at Laurels of Hendersonville. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Wright T. Busbee and Gertrude McMinn Busbee and wife of the late C.D. Hughes. Mrs. Hughes retired from J.P. Stevens after 45 years of service. She was a member of Monaghan Baptist Church and a member of the adult choir. She also taught Sunday School and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are a son, Dick Hughes and wife, Artie, of Greenville; a granddaughter, Julie Lunsford and husband, David, of Greenville; and two great-granddaughters, Maegan and Rebekah Lunsford. She was the last member of her immediate family. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille B. Blankenship and Georgia Cook; and a brother, Fred Busbee. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery, West with visitation from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
