Sarah Frances Sherard Johnson, 73, passed away September 19, 2013, in Moore, S.C. She was born in Decatur, AL, to the late Hamilton Reid Sherard Jr. and Ina Frances Mason Sherard. She was the widow of Richard Howard Johnson Sr.Sarah Frances was a graduate of the University of North Alabama, former Director of the Rainbow City Public Library; active member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent and a member The Order of the Daughters of the King. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a friend to all, for she never met a stranger. Surviving are her children, Richard Johnson (Kasey) of Meridian, Miss., Catherine Lunn (Steve), Brentwood, Tenn.; Elizabeth Loftis (Tyler), Boiling Springs, S.C.; grandchildren, Katelyn Lister (Janiel), Sarah Loftis, Emma Johnson, Robert Mason Loftis, Mason Lunn, Anna Johnson; great-grandchild, Reid Lister.A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, in Decatur City Cemetery, Decatur, AL, by the Rev. Evan D. Garner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church she loved, The Episcopal Church of the Advent, 141 Advent Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
