ALICEVILLE Sarah Esther Pate Gibson, age 84, of Aliceville, died Dec. 21, 2011, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at Carrollton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Penny Ford officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service in the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Merville Gibson; her parents; and her son, John Merville Gibson. Survivors include her daughter, Julia Gibson Hillyer (Michael) of Rochester Hills, Mich.; her son, Jeffery Glen Gibson of Bridgeport, W.Va.; her sister, Helen Pate Junkin of Carrollton, Ala.; her brother, Sam Franklin Pate of Carrollton, Ala.; her grandchildren, Ben Hillyer, Matt Hillyer, Tracey Crozier, and Jennifer Shane; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Bella Grace, Chloe, and Gibson.Sara Esther Pate Gibson was born October 6, 1927, in Pickens County, Alabama to the late William "Hugh" and Isabella Clanahan Pate. She was a homemaker, member of Carrollton First United Methodist Church and a life long resident of Pickens County.Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Carrollton First United Methodist Church.
