Sara E. Henderson - Broadway, VA - Sara Elizabeth Henderson, 97, of Broadway, VA died Monday, November 16, 2009 at Life Care Center of New Market, VA. Sara was born on September 10, 1912 in East Freedom, PA and was a daughter of the late Harry J. and Nancy Allison Bowers. She worked at A. Schrader in Brooklyn, NY for 23 years and Chubb and Sons Insurance Agency in Brooklyn for 6.5 years. She was a lifetime member of the J.W. Person #14 Auxiliary Veterans in Brooklyn. Sara retired to Melbourne, FL in 1973. She attended Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne. She was a member of the Womens Guild and Senior Club. Sara moved to Broadway in June, 2004 to reside with her nephew, Charles Wertz. Surviving in addition to her nephew, Charles, are a nephew, Barry Wertz; nieces, Christie Frederick, Carrie Streett, and Catherine Hostler; a number of other nieces and nephews. Her husband, Charles Henderson, whom she married April 1, 1934, preceded her in death. Her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held in FL at a later date.
