Sandra Kay Simpson Smith, 68, of Bowling Green died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Bowling Green native was born Nov. 6, 1943, a daughter of the late Oscar James Simpson and Anna Meeks Simpson. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Billy Ray Smith, former State Representative and Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture; three daughters; one son; three sisters, Margaret Peach (Ronnie) of Lawrenceburg; and 16 grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with burial in Barren River Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 16 from 3-8 p.m., and again from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17 at First Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
