Obituary of Sandra-Ann Carter


->PRESQUE ISLE - Sandra Ann (Johnson) Carter, 67, passed away Oct. 4, 2012, surrounded by her loving husband at their home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 20, 1945, in Presque Isle, first daughter of Doris and Albert Johnson. She attended Presque Isle schools. After school she worked as a truck broker for Agway. It is while working at Agway that she met the love of her life and husband, Bruce Carter. They spent the last 15 years working side-by-side for L & M Cos., in the same capacity. They were married for 28 wonderful years sharing everything in life together. Sandra was a life force. She had the ability to captivate any audience with her great wit, sharp observations and warm personality. She was genuinely interested in people and collected friends wherever she went. You loved being in her presence, always waiting for the unexpected which she rarely failed to deliver. She was a loving, caring mother to her daughter, Veronica, who continuously brought her great joy and pride. Also, she loved the role of grandmother and played it well. Sandra faced her disease with optimism and determination. She viewed every day after her diagnosis as a gift and was an inspiration to anyone that came in contact with her. She was a prototype on how to face adversity with grace. Sandra and Bruce took up part-time residence in Lakeland, Fla., six years ago. Sandra quickly made friends in her community through golf, bridge and her new passion of card making.She is survived by her husband, Bruce of Presque Isle and Lakeland, Fla.; her daughter, Veronica Collins and husband, Dan; granddaughters, Cammryn and Dylan of Orchard Lake, Mich.; stepdaughter, Lisa Harvey and husband, Brian, and stepgrandchildren, Tyler, Carter and Sidney; four siblings, Jerry Johnson and wife, Sharon, Alexis Madore and husband, Barry, Brad Johnson and partner, Tania, all of Presque Isle, and Deborah Fogg and husband, Sanford, of Falmouth; nieces and nephews, Matthew Madore, Kyle and Brooks Johnson, Deidre Fogg and Meryl (Fogg) Ryan and Matthew Cronin; great-nieces, Madison Madore and Calie Cronin; and great-nephew, Christopher Johnson. The family gives special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Aroostook and especially Ruth Collins. They offered great comfort and strength, as well as Dr. Rhoe and staff at The Aroostook Medical Center.Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation 10 a.m. until her memorial service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Friends and family are invited after the burial to join in a celebration of her life at Alexis and Barry Madore's, 57 Canterbury St., Presque Isle.
