Charlotte, NC - Samuel Lee White, III, 55, died Monday, February 17, 2003 in Charleston, SC. Born and raised in Savannah, Sam was a 1965 graduate of Beach High School. Attending Savannah State College until his voluntary enlistment into the U.S. Marine Corp, Sam served combat duty in the Vietnam War in which he received the Purple Heart. A decorated disabled veteran, Sam worked and lived amongst those that he loved, his fellow veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Lee White, Jr. and Mary A. White of Savannah. Survivors: wife, Sandra Goines White; son, Mario Ambrose White; daughter, Christal Marie White Campbell, all of Charlotte, NC; two granddaughters, Breon and Brittany Campbell of Ladysmith, VA; sisters, Karen M. White Paris of Savannah and Beryl D. White-Bing of Jacksonville, FL; aunts, Eva M. Roberts and Susan Berrien, both of Savannah; three nephews, Gregory A. Vaughn, Jr., Niam H. Jones and Gregory J. Bing, II; a niece, Brandeis A. Bing and a host of other family and friends.
