Samuel F. Horner Samuel F. Horner, 82, of Vineland, and formerly of Millville, died Friday evening, Nov. 12, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness. Born in Millville, he grew up there before service to his country as a T-5 instructor in the Army Transportation Corps. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the 458th Amphibian Truck Company. He had worked for Armstrong Cork Co. and Kerr Glass Co., retiring as an operator after 25 years of service. Early on he had worked for Burcham Trucking Co. He was a member of the Newport Baptist Church, GBBA Union, Millville Elks Lodge No. 580, and Nabb-Leslie Post No. 82 of the American Legion. Fishing, both freshwater and saltwater, was among his favorite pastime activities. He is survived by his wife, Helen L. (Weldon); two sons, Samuel D. Horner of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Lester Gebhart of Millville; two daughters, Cheryl DeChristopher of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Janet Prohowich and husband John of Millville; two sisters, Jane Stretch of Florida and Marilyn and husband Fred Raudenbush of Millville; nine grandchildren, Rebecca Webb, Michelle Zielinski, Elizabeth Cain, Debra Sims, Samuel Breeden, Michael Horner, Richard and wife Debbie Henderson, and Steven and wife Nieves Henderson; and 15 great-grandchildren, Richard Henderson III, Katelyn, Faith, and Linda Webb, Angela , Christopher, and Jonathan Stoedard, Aaron and Leanne Zielinski, Genesis Horner, Mia Arroyo-Breeden, Nehemiah, Carter, and Kendall Sims, and Bruce Horner. He was predeceased by his parents, Ellison and Estelle J. (Sooy) Horner; a daughter, Denise Horner; a brother, Edwin Yetman; and a grandson, David Sokol. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home before the service. Burial will be in Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
