Services are 6:00 pm Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Hillside O'Malley Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 6000 O'Malley Road. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.Pastor Dennis was born January 17, 1947 in Tallahassee, Florida. He arrived in Alaska September 1, 1990.He attended elementary and high school in Tallahassee FL. and graduated from Rochelle High School in Lakeland Florida. He graduated from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama.Pastor Dennis served as a pastor and worked as a Literature Evangelist in the South Atlantic and South Central Conferences of Seventh-Day Adventist and has been a pastor in Alaska for the last 20 years. In 1993, due to illness, Pastor Dennis could no longer work fulltime. He subsequently became the "bus driver" at Anchorage Junior Academy and developed a fondness for the children whom he fondly referred to as "his kids." In 1969, He married Constance Taylor. Over the last forty-one years they have enjoyed many joys and sorrows together. One of the highlights of their lives was serving as missionaries in Korea for eight and a half years and adopting their daughter, Cassandra while living there.Pastor Dennis was a very friendly person, who met no strangers. He was a very respectable, polite, kind, and fun loving person. He loved God, people. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.He is survived by his mother, Ruth Ellington (Harvest, AL): his wife Connie, one daughter Cassandra and her husband Robert Wait and grandsons: Gavin, Caden and Brayden; sisters, Lillie Fleming (Tallahassee, FL), Kathleen Otey (Lawrenceburg, TN), Vanessa Ellington (Huntsville, AL); brothers, Robert Dennis (Mae) Barron Ellington, Aunt Johnnie Mae, uncle Walter Taylor, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. A second service is planned for January 16, 2011 in Tallahassee, Florida.Arrangements are by Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory, LLC. www.akheritage.com
