ROMANO, Salvatore, 76, formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Tarpons Springs, Florida on Thanksgiving Day. Sal was born to Carmelo Romano and Antonina Bucchiri on November 6, 1937 in Gela, Sicily. He served in the Italian Navy and in the Merchant Marines from 1955 - 1965 before immigrating to America. In 1966 he made his way to NY and settled in Poughkeepsie where he met the love of his life, Nancy Incorvaia. They wed on December 4, 1966 and lived in Poughkeepsie until 2000. Sal worked at Vassar College for 30 years as a steamfitter and moved to Florida where he celebrated his retirement with his family and friends. Sal was a kind and loving person and was loved by all who knew him. He studied the bible and wrote beautifully about the world and life around him. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife Nancy Romano, loving children, Carmelo Romano, Antonella Hoosier and her husband Bruce, beautiful grandchildren, Bruce, Sarah and Leila Hoosier, his dear brother Antonio Romano who lives in Brooklyn, NY, and dear sister Domenica Incorvaia who lives in Poughkeepsie. He has joined his loving siblings, Joseph Romano, Savarina Romano and Sarina Costa in Heaven. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of the funeral home off Vassar Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 5th at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 95 Mill St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Entombment to follow in St. Peter's Mausoleum, Poughkeepsie, NY.
