Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Village Chapel for Sally Mitchell Edwards, 81, Rainbow City, who died Feb. 18, 2008. The Rev. Jack Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.Ms. Edwards was born in Ellisville, Miss., and later moved to Alabama City, where she graduated from Emma Sansom High School in 1944. She later moved to Colorado and then back to Gadsden. She retired from BellSouth after 31 years of service and is a life member of the Telephone Company Pioneers. She was preceded in death by parents, Wylie and Luella Mitchell; five brothers and sisters, Mamie Wood, Myrtis Mitchell, Gladys Mitchell, William Mitchell and Sam Mitchell; and grandson, Denson Alexander IV.She is survived by son, John Edward, Sterling, Colo.; daughters, Janet (George) Mecham, Rainbow City, Joyce (Gary) Rice, Pell City, and JoAnn (Jamey) Pardue, Columbiana; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and niece, Joyce Routon.Pallbearers will be Eric Wimpee, Joshua Wimpee, Scott Mordecai, Adam Parker, Jamie Lee and Nathan Davis.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
