ANDERSON, Susan Blalock, a resi-dent of Montgomery, died on Fri-day, May 6, 2005. Funeral services will be held at the First United Meth-odist Church of Montgomery on Sunday, May 8, at 3:00 pm, with Dr. Karl Stegall officiating. Burial will fol-low in Greenwood Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James Anderson; a daughter, Anna Kath-ryn; and stepchildren, Jesse and Marjorie. She is survived by her fa-ther, Lt. Col. Ret. Douglas Blalock of Auburn, brothers, Bill (Cheryl) Bla-lock of Naperville, Illinois, Bob Bla-lock of Keaton Beach, Florida and John (Patricia) Blalock of Auburn. Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Owen Bla-lock. She is also survived by numer-ous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Susan was born on September 25, 1953, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1971. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 1975, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and served as president of the University Panhellenic Council. Following completion of her undergraduate education, she attended the Cum-berland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, graduat-ing first in her class in 1979. She served as editor of the Cumberland Law Review. Susan entered into the private practice of law in 1979 with the Birmingham firm of Sirote & Per-mutt. In 1994, after 15 years in pri-vate practice and establishing a reputaion as a highly respected liti-gation attorney, Susan became Deputy Director and General Coun-sel of the Alabama Securities Com-mission, where she served until her untimely death. Susan was a loving and caring wife and mother who also had a passion for both the law and literature. She will be sorely missed by a multitude of friends and professional colleagues. Pall-bearers will be her brothers Bill, Bob and John Blalock; her stepson Jesse Anderson; and her nephews, Stephen and John Blalock. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Friendship Room of the First United Methodist Church.
