LEE, SARAH TINA SCARBER was born on December 11, 1911, to Henderson and Nancy Ann Dumas Scarber in Peachtree Alabama. She received Christ at an early age and after moving to Birmingham Alabama, united in fellowship with the Mount Zion Community Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. Sarah's work history spans more than six decades as she worked dutifully and lovingly as a housekeeper in the private homes of families who became dear loved ones. Sarah Tina Scarber was married to the late Rev. J.G. Lee and together they resided in the North Birmingham area for many years. "Aunt Sarah", "Momma Sarah" as she was affectionately called, was known for her way of wooing those she loved, friends and family, to her table for hefty home cooked meals that included her famous fried chicken and sweet potato pies. She was a very talented and jovial person, enjoying gardening and making quilts which she especially handcrafted for her children, nieces and nephews. Her memories will be cherished by many who loved her. Sarah departed life on July 31, 2013. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Arzetta Hayes Ball and Sons, Levan Norton and Levern Craig; sisters, Mainey Adlonia Sheffield, Gay Della Scarber and brothers, Henry Isaiah Scarber, John Garland Scarber and Sullivan "Zeb" Scarber . Her memories will be cherished by her loving nieces Ethel R. Scarber Agee, Evelyn Scarber Chandler; her devoted nephew, Preston Scarber (Annette); a loving step daughter, Eva Wagner; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Her memories will be especially cherished by the Griffin, Ogelsby and Prewitt families by whom she was employed for many years. Through mutual love and devotion Sarah and these family members developed a deep bond of love that continued until her passing. She will always be known as Momma Sarah to many of them.
