HICKS, Sara McLean (Fry), 82,of Joplin, MO, originally ofMontgomery, AL, passedaway Thursday, May 1, 2008,at National Health Care, following an illness. Sara wasborn on December 12, 1925in Montgomery, AL. She is thedaughter of James and Annette (McLean) Fry. Sheworked for many years in themedical field as a receptionist for two doctors. Sara was amember of the DalraidaChurch of Christ in Montgomery. Sara moved to the Joplinarea in November of 2007due to declining health. Sarawas 'Full of Life'; she hardlyever sat still for a minute.When we were growing upour home was alive with music, one of the passions sheand Daddy shared. Anotherpassion was nature, she dearly loved flowers, birds, anything outdoors, especiallyrabbits. Mother and Daddy,Kenneth Kylon Hicks Sr., fell inlove at a young age andwere married on February 16,1945 in Montgomery. Theyhad 50 years together, ourheavenly father took himhome on December 2, 1995.Sara is survived by twodaughters, Margaret Stewartof Montgomery, Cynthia Hirshey and her husband Johnof Joplin; one son, KennethHicks Jr. and wife Jennifer ofNashville, TN; three grandchildren, Laurie Johnson, JamesDavid III and Shannon Harris;and four great-grandchildren, Pennie Franklin, ThomasFranklin, Trevor Harris and Kylon Harris. Sara was also preceded in death by her sister,Dorothy Cauthen. Motherloved her family with all herheart. The greatest gift sheever gave was her non-wavering faith in God, ofwhich she was a living example. She loved her grandchildren and was known as their'Memaw.' She will be greatlymissed but we know she iswhere she wants to be. A special Thank You to Helen Bakerand the residents of CamelliaGardens for making her lastyears in Montgomery so happy. The family will receivefriends from 5 to 7 pm onTuesday, May 6, 2008 at Leak-Memory Chapel in Montgomery, AL. Funeral services willbe held on Wednesday, May7, 2008 at 2 pm.
