OAKLEY, SARA LEE, 90, of Dalton, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Hamilton Medical Center. She was born May 4, 1915, in Clinton, NC, daughter of the late Dr. Earl Gordon and Blanche Lee and was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Lawrence A. Oakley, Jr. Sara was retired from the U.S. Government and was a charter resident of the Royal Oaks Retirement Community. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, D.A.R., and Colonial Dames. Sara is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jean Oakley of Dalton, Gordon Lee and Soula Oakley of Orlando, daughter, Sally Oakley of Jacksonville; a sister, Sidney Crowder, and a brother, Algernon Lee, both of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Lynne Manley of Rocky Face, Chris Oakley of Jacksonville, Sara D'Esposito of Palm Coast, Mary E. Berry of Jacksonville, Christos Oakley of Orlando, and Lambros Oakley of Italy; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Fisher, Eric Manley, Caroline and Alex Oakley, Sara M. and Paige D'Esposito, Jacob, Justin and Hannah Berry, and Arianna Oakley; one great great grandchild, Jacob Fisher; niece, Susan Green, nephews, Otis Crowder and Andy Crowder, all of Charlotte, NC. At her request, a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Julian Peeples Funeral Home, Pleasant Grove Chapel, Dalton, GA, is in charge of the arrangements.
