SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Ruth Arlene (Conklin) Williams, 89, died July 4, 2005, in Highland from complications of pneumonia.She was born July 24, 1915, in Wentworth, S.D., daughter of the late Rex and Pearl (Aldinger) Conklin. She retired at age 82 from Harris' Department Store where she worked for 40 plus years. She was an active member of the Bloomington Women's Club and the Fontana Woman's Order of the Moose.On Nov. 28, 1932, she married George Samuel Williams, who predeceased her on Oct. 4, 1978. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Robert; her parents and a brother, Dale.She is survived by four sons and one daughter, Gene Williams of Highland, Rex Williams of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Peggy McAllister of Brattleboro, Gerry Williams of Fontana, and Kenny Williams of San Bernardino; a sister, Lorraine Tilson of Palm Desert; a nephew and three nieces.She was also survived by 19 grandchildren including Donald McAllister of Guilford, Vt., Danny McAllister of Vernon, Vt., Elizabeth Perkins of Brattleboro, Vt., Rex McAllister of Brattleboro, Tammy Gosselin of West Warwick, R.I., and Kimberly Winter of Brattleboro. The remaining 13 grandchildren reside in California. Also, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many friends.A service was held at Green Acres Memorial Chapel in California on July 9, with burial following. Officiating was her grandson, Ron Williams of California.Many family members and friends spoke of fond memories of Mrs. Williams. She was very devoted to her family and friends.
