Obituary of Ruth-Thomas Pierce


PIERCE Ruth Thomas Pierce, 89 of Jacksonville, FL, better known to her friends as Squeaky, passed away Friday Feb. 8th, at the McGraw Center for Community Hospice. She was born in Hartford, CT and graduated from Weaver High. She married Earle Pierce, and they moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1948. Ruth was one of the earliest members of St. Catherine's Episcopal Church. She worked as an insurance underwriter for Commercial Union Insurance Company. After retirement she and Earle traveled with their many friends. Among her many friends were The Birthday Girls, a group that includes friends of over 60 years. Ruth was proceeded in death by her loving husband Earle of 58 years and a granddaughter, Emily Warren. She is survived by her son, William Edward Pierce, her daughter in law Beverly Pierce; sister Flora Farken; granddaughter Jennifer Anne Jardine (James); grandsons Jason Warren (April), Joshua Warren (Julie); 9 great grandchildren; a Godson Harold Hackbarth, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. Catherine's Episcopal Church Thursday at 10AM with interment to follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice or St. Catherine's Episcopal Church. Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 729 S.
