->Smith, RuthWashington: 84, formerly of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2013 in the Donnell House, Washington, PA, surrounded by her loving family.She was born May 11, 1928 in Washington, the daughter of the late John and Jenny Munce Mackey.Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1950 graduate of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. She did her nurse's training in Philadelphia as a surgical nurse, and was employed by Mother of Sorrows School, in Rochester, NY, as a school nurse for many years.Ruth was very active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 45 years, from whom she received the Silver Beaver Award for her service. She was also interested in genealogy, staying current with her chosen career of nursing, and spending time with family. She was a long-time, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.On June 9, 1956 she married Clifford Smith, who died October 9, 2000.Surviving are three sons, Hultz (Barbara) Smith of Springdale, AR, Bruce (Audie) Smith of Washington, and James A. Smith of Butler, PA; seven grandchildren, Jennie (Jon) Hubbard, Andrew Smith, Meredith (Jeremy) Hornberger, Ephraim (Stacey) Sloan, Meghan (Christopher) Benninghoff, Robert Smith and Steven Smith, along with eight great grandchildren.Friends will be received for a memorial service Friday, March 22, 2013, at 4:00 PM, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1250 English Road, Rochester, 14616. Interment was in Washington Cemetery, Washington, PA.
