Ruth "Dolly" Smith, 89, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at Schneck Medical Center.Born Oct. 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Bertie (Day) and Edward Price Stewart. On Oct. 17, 1947, in Cortland, she married Herbert K. Smith, who preceded her in death.Dolly was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Seymour. After several years of service, she retired from Panasote in 1988. She was a loving mother and grandma who enjoyed life and had a lot of friends.She will be missed by her children, Sandra Whitehead, Linda Smith, Herb (Kim) Smith and Kristy Lynn Smith; grandchildren, Leah Warren, Melissa Downey, Russell Edwards, Bradley Stout, Robert Stout and Brien Stout; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Charles Buck Stewart, Merrill "Pete" Stewart and Robert Stewart; a half brother, Everett Stewart; three sisters; Mary Cockerham, Doris Martin and Betty Dailey; and a half sister, Mildred Smith.A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, with Brother Kenny Roberson and Brother Brien Stout officiating.
