Ruth Smith Mooreof North OrwellRuth Smith Moore, 94, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister went home to be with her Lord Thursday morning, January 8, 2004. Ruth was born on September 29, 1909 in North Orwell, Pa., a daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth H. (Hamilton) Smith. She attended school in North Orwell and Orwell and was a graduate of Towanda High School. On August 26, 1932 in North Orwell she married Lloyd C. Moore. Ruth enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, baking, reading and the love of her family. She was a devoted member of the North Orwell Union Church. Ruth is survived by her son and daughter in law, Albert L. and Betty Moore, Wilmington, Delaware; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley M. and William Snyder; Catherine M. and Thomas Rought, all of Rome, Pa.; a brother, Hamilton Smith, Waverly, N.Y.; sister, Gertrude Smith, Herrickville. She is also survived by nine special grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and her loyal care givers of many years. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years Lloyd Moore; her sisters, Nora Louise Smith and Margaret Gates.Funeral services and a celebration of Ruth's life will be held on Sunday, January 11th at 2 p.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols, with Rev. K. Ben Robinson, pastor of the North Orwell Union Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the North Orwell Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Saturday, January 10th from 7-9 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel and on Sunday, from 1 pm until the time of the service at 2 pm.
