Ruth S. Hallof Campville, N.Y.Ruth S. Hall, 83, of Campville, N.Y., died Saturday, February 15, 2003, following a short illness. Ruth was born May 30, 1919, at Norwich, N.Y. to Mark Symonds and Clara Traugh. She was a graduate of Greene High School and Geneseo State Teachers College, Class of 1942. Before her marriage, October 25, 1947 to Edwin C. Hall, who died November 13, 1992, she was employed at the East Orange, N.J. Library and at the Dept. of Agriculture, Washington, D.C. Ruth is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Shelton, Guilford; nephews, Frederick and Bonnie Shelton, Afton, David and Lois Shelton, Wayne, Nebr., Mark and Sandra Shelton, Fla; and nieces, Anne and Donald Gresko, Va., and Ruth and Thomas Bilodeau, Alexandria, Va.; great nieces and great nephews, cousins and many friends including, Christine Gillette, Marrian Ahrens; and her daughters, Sandy, Chery and Lori. Ruth was an organizing and charter member of Gen. John Paterson Chapter, NSDAR and currently a member of Beulah Patterson Brown Chapter, NSDAR. She was a member of Round Hill Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Ruth was a genealogist, compiling genealogies on her Symonds and Carpenter families and her husband's Hall, Seward and Vrooman families and helped many other people with their genealogical searches.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at 11 a.m., at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main St., Endicott, with Rev. Jose Valencia officiating. Burial will be in Chenango Cemetery, East Troupsburg, Steuben County, N.Y., at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Saturday, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 59 Court St., Binghamton, NY 13901, or to the Campville Fire Company, St. Rt. 17c, Endicott, NY 13760.
