Morrison, Ruth Rapoport Jun. 5, 1928 - Jul. 14, 2013Ruth Rapoport Morrison, 85, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Harrisburg, PA and Allentown, PA, died Sunday July 14, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert J. Morrison; son, Jim Morrison; daughter, Patty Schimberg and five grandchildren, Lena, Zachary and Sam Morrison and Sy and Hugh Schimberg.Ruth, daughter of Julius and Lena Rapoport, was born in Allentown, PA and graduated from Blackstone College. In 1955 she married Robert Morrison, O.D. and moved to Harrisburg, PA, where she was a devoted wife, mother and active member of the Jewish community. Ruth was a quietly strong and modest supporter of her accomplished father, an advisor to President Truman and herhusband, a renowned Optometrist and inventor. Known for her gracious demeanor, Ruth managed 55 years of an active life with diabetes, displaying extraordinary humility and humor every day of her life. A Memorial Service is being planned in Sarasota for her many friends and family who will be returning to the area this fall.
