Obituary of Ruth O-Bryan

O'Bryan, Ruth LAKE WYLIE, S.C. Ruth O'Bryan, formerly Weiss and Osborn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2015, in Lake Wylie, surrounded by her loving family. A long-time resident of Albany, where she was born, Ruth retired from the New York State Thruway Authority in 1980 after 25 years of service. She later moved to and lived in Valatie for over 30 years. She was a devoted communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie, and was active in a number of ministries: hospitality, greeter, bereavement, Christmas elves, and more. In 2012, she moved to North Carolina. She was the wife of the late Edward Edmund Weiss for 28 years until his passing in 1970, and the late Robert K. O'Bryan who passed in 1993 after 18 years of marriage. She is survived by her dear son, Brian Weiss, and daughter-in-law, Kathy Weiss, of Charlotte, N.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laurie Weiss and Kristen Peace of Rensselaer, whom she adored. "Gram" will always be remembered for her generosity, commitment to family and church, quick wit, and dry humor. Friends are invited to wake at St. John the Baptist Church, Valatie, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on March 30, with service following at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Church, Faith Formation, Valatie, N.Y. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
