Ruth Moulton, born in 1931, died on April 1, 1931. Please consult the obituary here:
Ruth Moulton STANDISH -- Ruth was born on April 1, 1931, the youngest of four children of Simon and Rachel Moulton. She grew up in the small town of Standish. She graduated from Standish High School and the University of Maine. After college, Ruth lived for a while in Philadelphia, but didn't like the hot summers. Ruth moved to Alaska in 1959, shortly after statehood. She later said that she felt at home as soon as she stepped off the plane, and even more so when she experienced the friendly, welcoming nature of the Alaskan people. Alaska has been her home ever since, though she often spent time in Maine. In the early 1970s, she spent a year in Cambridge, Mass., while she obtained a Masters degree from the Harvard University School of Education. Ruth was a school teacher for may years, teaching history and social studies. Later, she worked as an income tax preparer. In between, she had a number of other jobs, including stints as a secretary, researcher, and a taxi driver in Anchorage. Ruth loved the outdoors and was an active hiker and explorer all her life, and she was also a community activist in Anchorage. Ruth is survived by her brother, Willard Moulton of Standish; and her sister, Leah Nelson of Brunswick. She was predeceased by her sister, Lora White, who passed away in 1973. She is also survived by several generations of nieces and nephews.
