WHITE _ Ruth Lillian, on April 24, 2006 at St. Vincent's Hospital (Langara). Born in Vancouver on June 6, 1924. Ruth was a graduate of U.B.C. and later achieved her Doctorate in French Letters from Sorbonne University, Paris. She was decorated by the French Government and inducted as a Knight of the Order of Academic Palms. Dr. White taught in Vancouver public schools and latterly at U.B.C. in the Department of Modern Languages. She was a fine pianist and had achieved her A.T.C.M. while still in high school. Ruth was a long time member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter AG and later of Chapter A. She was elected President of the Provincial Chapter of the sisterhood for the year 1962 1963. Ruth leaves her two nieces Kathleen Webster and Shirley Wilson; a great-niece Amanda and great-nephew Christopher, plus cousins and many friends. Ruth was predeceased by her father George, her mother Olive and her brother Jim. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 28, at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 1440 West 12th Avenue, Vancouver, immediately followed by a reception at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club, 1630 West 15th Avenue, Vancouver.
