Obituary of Ruth Johnson


JOHNSON, Ruth Lazo, 77, of Tampa, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003. Preceded in death by her husband, Everett C. Johnson, Sr., she is survived by her son, Everett, Jr.; two daughters, Valerie Cardoso and Marsha and husband, David Guerra; one sister, Naomi Green; two brothers and their wives, Samuel and Mary Lazo and Ronald and Cynthia Lazo; one grandchild, Angela Cardoso Soto and husband, Adam; two foster grandchildren, Angell Dunne and Michelle Harvey; 63 nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She was born in Key West, Fla., and moved from Miami to Tampa in 1938 at age 12. She was a homemaker and a member of Riverhills Church of God. She devoted herself to her family and church, sang in a quartet with her sisters, was a Sunday School Teacher and was very involved in many other church and school activities. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Riverhills Church of God, 6310 E. Sligh Ave., Tampa. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday one hour prior to service time. Interment will be in Garden of Memories. Flowers will be accepted or contributions in her memory may be made to LifePath Hospice in Tampa. Florists please deliver flowers to the church.
