Ruth G. SmithEleanor Ruth Gordon Smith, 78, of Lexington, Alabama, passed away Dec. 17, 2014, at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was a retired seamstress and a member of Green's Chapel Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith is survived by son, Jeff Gordon; daughter, Maureen Jones (Keith); brother, Alvin Turpen (Kathy); stepsons Wade, Brent, and Steve Smith; stepdaughter, Belinda Bailey; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles L. Gordon, and William Smith, son, Ricky Gordon, and parents, Ledon and Louise Turpen. Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be today from 4-7 p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. with Tyler Gordon and Randy Burbank officiating. Burial will be in Pettus Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Turpen, Greg Turpen, Keith Hunt, Keith Kelley, Ed Gordon, and Wayne Urban. Honorary pallbearers will be James Wilbourn and Milton Newton. The family would like to send special thanks to Dr. Barry Lumpkins, Stacey Wooten, and Courtney and Lee at Amedysis Hospice Care for their care during this difficult time.
