Ruth Elizabeth (Norwood) Dennis Moulton, 95, died on October 4, 2008, after a long illness. Born in Alfred, New York, on March 21, 1913, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Nelson Norwood, she was graduated from the former Alfred High School, from Alfred University in 1935, and from Simmons College in 1937. She attended Miss Keeler's Drama School in 1936. In June, 1937, she married William Henry Dennis. After taking a trip around the world, they lived in Rocky Hill, Conn. and later in Arlington, Virginia. That marriage ended in divorce. In 1944, she married Albert Bigelow Moulton. Their daughter, Dorothy Jean, was born August 4, 1945. In 1946, they moved to Jackson Heights, N.Y., where they lived for six years before moving to Miller Place, Long Island, N.Y., in 1951. There she and her family built the home where they lived over 40 years. During that time she wrote local news items for the Port Jefferson Times, sold china in the Patchogue area, and taught second grade in Miller Place School for 21 years. After her retirement and the death of her husband, she joined her daughter in Springfield, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Dora Norwood, her brother, John Norwood, her husband, Albert Norwood, her daughter, Dorothy Carty, and her cousin, Huber S. Watson. Her living relatives are cousins Charles Watson and Roger Watson both of Rochester, N.Y.; three nephews, Marc Norwood, Thomas Norwood, and John David Norwood; and a great-niece, Jenna Norwood all of California. Memorial services will be held in Unity Spiritual Center on Friday, October 10 at 1:30 p.m., under the direction of Klingner-Cope Funeral Home.
