Ruth E. Butler 1952 - 2013 SPRINGFIELD - Ruth Elizabeth Butler, 60, of the Sixteen Acres area of Springfield passed away suddenly on Monday, January 14, 2013. Ruth was born in Springfield on October 16, 1952, a daughter of Lyle A. and Ruth Elsie (Southard) Butler. She was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, Class of 1970 and she also attended Springfield Technical Community College. Ruth was employed by J.C. Penney at the Eastfield Mall and retired after thirty-four years of service. She was a member of the Church in the Acres in Springfield. Ruth loved the beach and vacationing in Maine and spending time with family and friends. Ruth was predeceased by her mother Ruth Elsie Butler in 2006. She is survived by her beloved father Lyle A. Butler Jr., of Springfield., and three caring brothers Lyle A. Butler III and his wife Christeene of Manhattan, KS., Lee A. Butler and his wife Joyce of St. Joseph, MO., and Lawrence A. Butler of Plymouth, MA and she leaves her devoted best friend Joanne Case of Springfield. She leaves two nieces April and Rachel and three nephews Jonathan, Brian and Benjamin. She also leaves three great-nieces and two great-nephews. Ruth's funeral will be held on Friday January 18, 2013 at 11A.M. at the Church in the Acres, 1383 Wilbraham Road, Springfield, MA 01119. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street in Springfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to the Church in the Acres.
