She was born November 4, 1921, in Tamms, Illinois, the daughter of the late Tully and May Lee Dillow. She graduated from Tamms Community High School, where she met her late husband, Eric H. Johnson, who at age 20 taught her business classes.She later attended Illinois State University. Ruth and Eric were married for 56 years, having been married on December 24, 1939, in Cairo, Illinois. Eric died on June 19, 1996, in Tallahassee. Her memorial service and burial will be at Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home,1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308, on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 1:00 p.m.Ruth and Eric moved to Tallahassee in 1972, from Normal, Illinois, where he had retired as a vice-president at Illinois State University. In Tallahassee, Eric joined the Florida State University Foundation and both Ruth and Eric were active in the Foundation's activities.In Tallahassee, Ruth was a member of the Fellowship Presbyterian Church and active in the Killearn Ladies Golf Association, Questors Princess Murat Chapter 707 and several bridge clubs. Ruth is survived by two sons, Tim Johnson (wife Paulette) of Bloomington, Illinois and Mark Johnson (wife Margaret) of Jupiter, Florida; one brother, Carl Dillow (wife Galen), and one sister, Evelyn Kretschmar, both of Tallahassee; five grandchildren, Lori Johnson of Bloomington, Sterling Johnson (wife Stacy) of Overland Park, Kansas, Taylor Johnson and Thomas Culler of Jupiter, Florida and Lt. Michael Culler (wife Amy) of Kunar, Afghanistan; and four great grandchildren, Lauren and Carter Johnson of Overland Park, Kansas and Darien and Collin Culler of Clarksville, Tennessee.
