She was a long time resident of East Asheville.She was born September 18, 1918 in Young Harris, GA, to Joseph Grayson and Bertha Nichols Trulove.She is survived by her son, Joe and his wife, Louise, who lovingly cared for her for the last 5 years of her life. She is also survived by her son, Gene and his wife, Sally; granddaughter, Lisa Mattox and her husband, Erik; great granddaughter, Lucy Rose, and several nieces and nephews.During WW II Ruth worked in Washington, D.C. as a key punch operator for the Department of the Army on some of the early computers, aiding the war effort.Locally she was employed by Sky City, Charles E. Bell School lunchroom, Kearfott, and then retired after sixteen years from Eaton Cutler-Hammer in 1984.During retirement Ruth did volunteer work at several health care facilities. She became an avid "mall walker", making many close friends.She will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and friend.A memorial service will be held on August 28th, 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, at the intersection of Hutchins Road and Tabernacle Road, Black Mountain, NC. Rev. David Blackmon will officiate.In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to any local Hospice.Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the Carter family.The memorial register is available at grocefuneralhome.com.
