Ruth C. Miles Stone of North Canton, OH Ruth C. Miles Stone, 56 years old, born July 23, 1952 went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, March 1, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ruth was born in Rochester, NY as the daughter of John and Josephine Miles of Binghamton, NY. She graduated from Houghton College with a B.S. in Chemistry and from Cleveland State University with a Ph.D. in Clinical Chemistry. She was recognized for original research that would lead to the development of a pre-conception blood test to predict the likelihood of conceiving a Down Syndrome child. She most recently served as Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and as Chemistry Professor at Malone University in Canton, Ohio. She was active in several professional societies including the American Chemical Society and The Center for Christian Bioethics and Human Dignity. She resided in North Canton, Ohio and is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Joanna and Steven Cline of Alliance, OH and Sara Elizabeth Stone of North Canton, OH, a step-son, Gary Stone (Vera) and his two daughters; her loving parents, John and Josephine Miles of Binghamton, NY; her loving and admiring sisters, Lynette Ledder (Craig); nieces, Lindsay Ruth and Lauren Elisabeth Ledder of Plymouth Meeting, PA, Mary Jo Calebaugh (Donald) and Valerie Hoffman (Ted); niece, Stephanie Hoffman of Binghamton, NY; her beloved aunts, Rita Emilio, Cre Roberts, Mary Foster, Wilma Emilio, all of Binghamton, Jane (Ralph), Bennett and Janet Marshall of Baden, PA, Carol Walsh, CA; and her beloved uncle, Henry D. Emilio of Long Island; and many loving cousins, Henry Emilio, Lorrie Frank, Stephen Roberts, Cindy Elliott, Rita Conway, Victoria Fry, Ron Foster, Ken Miles, Candace Miles, Alec Miles, Rick Miles, Kim Miles, Beth Jo Wolfe, Nadine Sassic, Cre Yeomans, Yvonne Newell, Dan Emilio, Debbie Falker, Connie McVicker, Nick Emilio, Sherrie Gill, Carla Brigham, Joseph Emilio, Michelle O'Donnell; special loving friends, Anna DeRosa of Binghamton, NY, Stan and Cheryl Terhune of North Canton, OH. She was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Arthur B. Stone. Ruth was a dedicated Christian woman, mother and scientist, most passionate about her faith. She fervently sought truth and lovingly dealt with issues in life and in her profession. She was a highly respected and beloved professor who exhibited grace, unwavering faith and a gentle spirit to all. She lived a life that honored her Lord and Savior and awaits her loving family to join her in Heaven. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2009, 3 p.m. at the Wm. R. Chase &amp; Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY with The Rev. Henry Ausby officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held in Canton, Ohio in the near future.
