BURGESS -Ruth Lorraine Burgess (Bowman) passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of November 16, 2004. Ruth was born June 6, 1925 to Roy and Mildred Bowman. Ruth is lovingly remembered by her three sons: Greg (Heather), their children, Scott, Blaire and Jonathon; Gordon (Linda), their children, Stewart (Terry) and daughters, Jayden and Payton, Sarah and son, Jacob and Christopher; Doug (Lori) and their children, Andrea and Kendra. Ruth also leaves her only brother, Gordon and his wife Pat; numerous nieces and nephews; and her wonderful friend and companion, Nelson Werner. From an early age Ruth accompanied her parents on various business and family vacations, touring automotive factories, mills and the like which were pertinent to the family concerns of Bowman Brothers Ltd. This instilled in her an interest in business and finance. With this experience of travel a new world opened to her the love of ballet, art and interior design. Ruth attended Chicago School of Fine Arts and the University of Manitoba. Later in her life Ruth continued her education resuming art studio classes at the University of Saskatchewan. It was with a strong sense of civic duty that Ruth volunteered with various organizations such as the Kinettes and Royal University Women's Auxiliary to name a few. Entertaining her bridge friends brought great joy and kinship to her life always reading to seek a better line of play. Memories of summers spent at the cottage at Waskesiu surrounded by friends and family were special to mom and those times are particularly treasured by the whole family. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Mildred Bowman. The family would like to thank Tammie Bryksa, Cheryl Green and the staff of Luther Riverside Terrace, as well as City Hospital for their compassionate care. A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, November 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 4th Avenue N.) which will be followed by a reception at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre prior to a private family interment service with her parents. Email condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
