DAVIS, RUTH BURGESS, 91Ocala - Ruth Burgess Davis, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died Sunday, June 17, 2007 at the age of 91. She was a long time member of Grace Episcopal Church. Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1916 and moved to Crystal River, Florida when she was nine years old. She was one of five sisters, growing up in Crystal River, a place that held many fond memories. Ruth lived in Ocala for over forty years and St. Augustine for twenty years. While living in St. Augustine, she worked at the Olde Carriage Realty. She was the wife of the late Edward "Skinny" Davis. Ruth is survived by her three children, Hester Simms, Ocala, Florida, Edward Hunt Davis, LaGrange, Georgia and Clark Davis, Tallahassee, Florida and their spouses, David Simms, Maxine Davis and Eleese Davis. In addition, she had six grandchildren, Laurel and Erin Davis, Leigh Anne Askren, Stacey Hammond, and Yorke and Whitney Davis and three great grandchildren, Davis and Jacob Hammond and Avery Askren. She also had 4 wonderful sisters, Alice Hanna and Florence Fleming of St. Augustine and the late Louise Dumas and Ginny Reeder. A visitation will be held at HIERS-BAXLEY FUNERAL HOME, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held at St. Augustine Memorial Park on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Library Access, 420 Platt St. Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
