Ruth Bush Bryant Saratoga Springs, NY - Ruth Bush Bryant passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 13, 2011, at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93. Born on July 30, 1918, in Ballston Spa, she was the daughter of the late J. Joseph and Anna Fitzgerald Bush. She was a 1935 graduate of Ballston Spa High School and moved to Saratoga Springs upon her marriage to the late Walter C Bryant, Jr. on August 31, 1941. They were residents of 19 Waterbury Street in Saratoga Springs for more than fifty years. Ruth graduated from the Eastman School of Business. Early in life, she was a secretary to the owners of the prestigious White Sulphur Springs Hotel on Saratoga Lake and later worked as a secretary to the management of the Van Raalte Company. Ruth was a lifelong member of Court McLaughlin 422 Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Saratoga Springs Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed ceramics, traveling, following the horses and mostly spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the light of her life. In addition to her parents and loving husband, she is predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Bryant Villa, her sister Elizabeth (Bush) McNamara and brother Joseph Bush. Survivors include one son: Retired Lt. Colonel Michael (Charlene) Bryant of Oakton, Virginia; three daughters: Carol (John) Lane of Ballston Spa, Maureen (Kevin) McDonnell and Ellen (Robert) Boyce both of Saratoga Springs; twelve grandchildren; Michael (Sharon) Bryant, Amy Bryant (Gregory) Atkins, David (Donna) Bryant, Colleen Bryant (Eduardo) Herrera, Anne Lane, Amy Lane (Kevin) Tichenor, Joshua (Kelly) Lane, Tara McDonnell (Johnathan) Brabson, Alysia McDonnell (David) Han, Christy Boyce (Darren) Daproza, Jamie Boyce and Kelly Boyce; sixteen great-grandchildren, four nieces and nephews, including Mary Beth Hutwelker. Ruth Bryant was the true essence of a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ruth lived her entire life selflessly, taking care of and loving her children and grandchildren until the moment she died. A strong woman whose kindness, friendship, compassion and love touched everyone who knew her, Ruth was the center of her entire family, loved beyond words and will be missed by all forever. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs 584-5373. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway. The Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. Ruth's family deeply appreciates the compassionate care of Dr. Desmond DelGiacco and Dr. Roland Phillips, who cared for Ruth for over twenty five years. In addition, the family is thankful to the staff at Maplewood Manor for their kind and dedicated care for Ruth. The Catholic Daughters will meet at the funeral home at 6pm Wednesday for services.
