Ruth Anderson, spouse of Joseph-Eldridge Anderson, mother of Joey and Patrick, died on October 19, 2005. Please consult the obituary here:
ANDERSON, RUTH, 84, peacefully entered into the Paradise promised by a Loving God the morning of October 19, 2005, while resting at her home in Prospect, KY, surrounded by the family who loved and cherished her. She will join her mother and father, Jeff and Mabel Powell, sisters Frankie and Pug, and brother Max, all formerly of Lynch, Kentucky. She was the faithful and loving wife of Joseph Eldridge Anderson for more than 56 years, devoting her life to her husband and the three children they raised - Dick Anderson, of Lithia Springs, GA, Dr. Frances Anderson of Prospect, and Kevin Anderson of Prospect. She will also be missed by her sister, Kitty O'Neil; and brother, Lee Powell, both of St. Matthews, and their families. Her life is also cele-brated by two grandchildren, Kevin and Ruth Maloney of Prospect; as well as Joe Maloney, husband to Frances; Barbara Anderson, wife to Dick; as well as Joe Maloney's sons Joey and Patrick and their families; and generations of cousins on both sides of the family. She was a member of Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church in St. Matthews. One of 6 children of a coal miner in Lynch, KY, Ruth was an honor student in high school there, then moved to Louisville, to work as a buyer with Curtis-Wright Aircraft Manufacturing during WWII before joining American Airlines at Bowman Field in Louisville. It was there she met a handsome young pilot back from the war, and the two married and began a family. While she successfully handled several other jobs as an adult and went back to college in her '70's, Ruth's first love was always her family. She was absolutely devoted to her husband and their three children. It was her example that taught each of these children the meaning of unconditional love. Her love and devotion to family is reflected in the lives of all she nurtured. Even as the Angels celebrate her arrival in Paradise, her spirit will always live in those she loved and lived for. Please join the family as they celebrate this wonderful life. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, October 21,2005, with Memorial Services at Arch L. Heady-Cralle & Son Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, Louisville, KY at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at Cave Hill Cemetery, following the service.Previously published in The Courier-Journal
