MacKENZIE, Russell Walker April 11, 1927 – November 4, 2013Administrator of Renfrew Victoria Hospital (Retired)Pipe MajorPassed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 with peace and dignity, after a courageous fight to maintain his wonderful sense of wit and wisdom in the face of Alzheimer's disease. Born in Renfrew, Ontario on April 11, 1927, Russell was the beloved son of the late Alexander MacKenzie and Alice Mary Russell. Cherished husband of 65 years of Margaret MacKenzie (nee Gould) and loving father of Sharon MacKenzie, Beth Doyle (Jim) and Laurie Cunningham (Terry). Russ, lovingly referred to as "Poppa," was the proud grandfather of Ryan, Lindsay, Casey , Katelyn and Kristen and great-grandfather of Tatum and Cohen. Russell leaves one brother Colin MacKenzie and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Mack and John; his sisters, Gloria, Dorothy, Hilda, Mary and Iva. Russ will be missed by many friends from around the world with whom he shared his gift of music, to his circle of friends and loving care givers at Groves Park Lodge. Renfrew on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Thursday November 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Trinity St. Andrew's United Church, Renfrew. Interment at Horton Cemetery.
