Rumsey Ward PetersonPassed away December 11, 2013 on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia at the age of 96 with his son Steven and grandson Eric at his side. Born in Winchester Springs, Ontario, he was predeceased by his wife Shirley (nee Merritt), brothers Arnold and George, and sister Beatrice.Having completed two years of electrical engineering at Queen's University, he joined the RCAF in 1941. He served as a radar technician on the Dorset Coast and flew reconnaissance along Canada's Pacific Coast while training as a pilot and navigator by war's end. Graduating from Queen's in 1948 he joined the Eastern Forest Products Laboratory in Ottawa. He was appointed Director of the lab in 1965.A Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League, Ward also spent countless hours practicing his golf swing.No service as requested with donations made to the charity of one's choice.
