CARTER, RUBY P., 84, of New Albany, IN, passed away Saturday at Floyd Memorial Hospital. She was a retired line worker for P. Lorillard. Her three brothers, Lawrence, Sherman and J.W. Phelps preceded her in rest. Mrs. Carter is survived by her faithful husband, Cecil "Snooky" Carter; a daughter, Betty L. Jones; a sister Reva Embry; three grandchildren, Nat and Seth Stewart and Dani Haas; and five great-grandchildren, Drue, Julien and Scooter Stewart, Mason Elmore and Emma Haas. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God, 2778 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, with interment following in Louisville Memorial Gardens-West. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday and 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at W.G. Hardy, Shively Chapel.
