Memorial services for Ruby Henderson age 91 will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday January 17 2004 at Browns United Methodist Church with a lunch to follow. Mrs. Henderson died Saturday evening January 10 at Forest Cove Nursing Home. She was born August 13 1912 in Birmingham Alabama. She moved to Bemis at an early age and completed her education there. She attended West Tennessee Business College and became a secretary. She married the late Judge Dewitt Henderson in 1940 and made the Browns community her home. She was an accomplished seamstress and an avid gardener and was devoted to her numerous pets. She was an active participant in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts with her children. She was a member of Browns United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother Ollie Mathis her father G.C. Mathis and by her husband Judge Dewitt Henderson. She is survived by two children: Bill Henderson and Beth Peterson both of Jackson; four grandchildren: David Peterson of Cookeville Tennessee Olivia and Jeff Shupe of Redding California Anne and Jonathon Stockett of Little Rock Arkansas and Sarah Peterson of Houston Texas; and four great-grandchildren.
