In 1975, she joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, providing palliative care for retired brothers in Juneau, AK. Afterwards, she spent two years in Beirut, Lebanon, assisting in corrective spinal surgery for pediatric patients. Her devotion to the Catholic faith and thirst for knowledge inspired several trips to the Holy Land and culminated in her singular role as The Founding Donor of St. Joseph's Catholic School. She received the most joy from reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and pets. She is survived by three daughters; Melanie Jones Gilfillin, Nancy Jones Guzman, and Margaret Ann Jones Moon; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. A Rosary will be held Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 6 p.m. with Visitation to follow at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The Funeral Mass will be Monday July 18, 2011, at 12:10 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8 Gillin Drive, Simpsonville, SC 29680, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
