<!-- FH = Blue Ridge Funeral Service --><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Ruby HillAsheville - Loving mother and wife Ruby Hill, 97 of 421 Hazel Mill Road, is now resting with her family in her heavenly home January 30, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lydia Annie Ballard Hamlin. She is also preceded in death by sisters Geneva Maynard (Lee), Paris Hill (Boyd), Orla Roberts (Harold): brothers, Euris Hamlin, Kermit Hamlin (Frieda) and Levi Hamlin (Bea). She was a dedicated member of Westwood Baptist Church and in her service to the nursery for over 50 years. Mrs. Hill was a graduate of Beech Glenn High School where she enjoyed playing basketball and completed Mars Hill College, attended Western Carolina College and graduated from Asheville Normal Teachers College. She was a teacher at Kernersville School in a one room school house teaching all eight grades. Her favorite past time was watching women's University of Tennessee basketball. She was an expert seamstress and with other crafts as well. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles for many years. The most joy she received was her life with her husband and spending time with her abundant family members. She enjoyed spending time in Florida with her sister, Geneva and niece Patsy, and traveling with family and friends.She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Brawdus Vernon "B. V." Hill; daughter, Deborah Hill Bailey (Fred), son, Larry Hill Sr., (Liz), sister, Evelyn McPeters (Bacchus), grandsons Larry Hill Jr. (Francine) and Brandon Bailey, great grandchildren, Preston and Sullivan Hill, many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Middle Fork Baptist Church, 2 Crooked Creek Rd. Mars Hill, NC. Rev. Homer Tweed and Rev. Stanley Peek will officiate. Burial will follow in the Briggs Cemetery.
